However, from what I listen to and read, an independent author does need a website. There needs to be a place for folks who discover your books to go and learn more about you, what you do, and when you're next book is coming out. All the contacts and relationships and friendships I've made to date have all been via an author website. So there are positive aspects to having one. But I sure like your answer, too.
