If you’re reading this, if you visit this page, you love books.
But do you have a library card?
As soon as I was old enough to get my first one, I’ve never not had a library card. No matter the city to which I moved and lived, one of the first things I did was find the library and get a card. The second thing I did was find out the maximum number of checked out items I could have.
For years now, when I mention to people that I get books and movies and comics from the library, they cock their heads and remember that libraries exist. “I never even think about going to the library.”
Just this week, a friend of mine at church told me she had gotten her library card and was happily back into the habit of reading. What she really loved was the Kindle feature with the Libby app.
You have that app, right? You can check out books (and comics!) digitally and send it directly to your Kindle, ereaders as well as the tablets. You don’t even have to drive to the physical library (although I make weekly runs to pick up physical books not available in the digital format).
It is a wonderful system. And it’s all free.
So, do yourself a favor today: if you don’t have a library card, go get one.
