Resist

I don’t sew. Not well anyway. It was one of those things that never seemed necessary to learn when I was young. And it has now—like so many youthful certainties—come back to bite me in the ass.
The results of my sewing.
And oh, how youthfully certain we all were. Think back to those halcyon days of a month ago, when we could hug a friend and have it be the most ordinary thing in the world. Now it feels like we’re jaded and wary and old in a bone-deep way that wasn’t there before.
So I’m here today to say: Keep resisting. Keep battling the fear and the isolation and the anger. Take a walk. Call your mom. Help a neighbor. Start a food drive. 3-D print a face shield for a health care worker. Online tutor a student. Keep resisting this new oldness.
Keep the faith.
For those of you who celebrate it, Happy Easter. For those who celebrate Passover, Happy Passover.
And for everyone, be well.
