Just Popping In

This is how I'm feeling right about now:

Although in my case, a death in the family and now, a wicked stomach flu, make Holly a dull girl.

I have stuff to talk about that we'll get to in the next few weeks: I'm just got back from my first writers conference as a published author and I'm just finishing copy edits on my second novel.

But just so we have something to discuss here and now, tell me what your favorite movie about writers is? Although I posted the video of The Shining, I'd have to say that Sunset Boulevard is my all time favorite.

Also, welcome to Kristi Belacamino and Alex Segura, both of whom are now blogging on Do Some Damage. I'm no longer the new kid on the block!

I don't know if it's my favorite, but I like "Finding Forrester". It had some good advice for writers. Here's one quote from Forrester (Sean Connery): "No thinking - that comes later. You must write your first draft with your heart. You rewrite with your head. The first key to writing is... to write, not to think!"

First one that pops to mind is "The World According To Garp" Both the move and book were important to me when I was a very young writer trying to balance typing and changing diapers.

Deathtrap with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve is pretty good. Nice murder mystery twist.

Thanks so much, Holly. I'm thrilled to be among such esteemed company here on DSD.
I can't wait to hear more about your first writing conference as a published author. You are paving the way, my friend, and I'm frantically behind you taking notes at every turn!

Kristi, I fear I'm not a good guide, but I do feel like I've learned a few things this time around so I'll do better when the second book comes out in the Fall.

I hope you share more about what to do and what not to do, because god knows I'm going to need all the help and advice I can get. ; )
