Still do. But as my pile of books at home--many of which are in boxes in the garage--I've been having second thoughts about keeping them. What am I keeping them for? That I *might* have a hankering for a particular title or author one random day and I jump up in the garage and locate said book? The times that has happened is remarkably few.

So I've decided to slowly start weeing myself from those books in boxes. Doesn't mean my office and front-room library won't be fully stocked. I love books. Always have. Always will. But I might not need to just own them with little-to-no intention of reading them. So why not put them back into the world?

Scott D. I've heard people say they can't get rid of a book. Why? No one's asking you to burn it. Someone else might enjoy that book, if you don't love it.Thomas Pluckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17008022962076648740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7119990365479009764.post-75725537723788216922019-01-20T14:18:48.430-05:002019-01-20T14:18:48.430-05:00I think Kondo's ultimate point is simply to th...I think Kondo's ultimate point is simply to think about the things you own, why you own them, and whether they're dragging you down in some way or, as she says, spark joy. Many of us will go beyond her simple "rules' about what to keep and what to give away and add extra criteria beyond joy-sparking. But if you're a person who feels the need to declutter (I surely am) books will be part of that process, no matter how much I love them. With that said, I'll always surround myself with books because there's nothing that sparks more joy for me. And I don't have kids but people in my house often browse my books and ask for recommendations. So definitely another reason to keep them!Holly Westhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08910436592791818527noreply@blogger.com
